Drugcember To Remember - Holiday Ale

To Benefit The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia

The War on Drugs have announced the return of their series of holiday shows, A Drugcember to Remember, to directly benefit The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia and we’ve teamed up with them to create a beer to help the cause!

Join us on Saturday, December 17th at 1pm when we release “Drugcember to Remember” - our 5.5% ABV Holiday Ale brewed with vanilla poached pears, royal cinnamon and a hint of citrus. A portion of the proceeds from sales of this beer will go directly to The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia. Four pack cans are extremely limited and available for purchase on a first come, first serve basis - and we will also be tapping a special cask of this beer as well!

The War On Drugs announce the return of A Drugcember To Remember, a series of holiday

shows directly benefiting The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia, a nonprofit that

raises and coordinates investments into the Philadelphia public schools. After a two year break,

the 2022 Drugcember will consist of three very special and intimate shows happening

December 19th-21st at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia.

Started in 2018 by The War On Drugs, “Philadelphia’s most acclaimed rock band” (Philadelphia Inquirer), Drugcember is “an opportunity for the group to play in their hometown, celebrate a local cause around the holiday season, and perform in more intimate venues than a band of their stature can usually commit to” (Philly Voice). It caps off a year of 100-plus shows played throughout North America and Europe in support of their newest album, 2021’s I Don’t Live Here Anymore, and follows the band receiving their second GRAMMY nomination (for Best Rock Song for “Harmonia’s Dream”).

The beer itself is a Holiday Ale. We crafted a Vanilla Poached Pear Cream Ale with Royal Cinnamon & Citrus. We wanted to approach the beer style based on how bandleader Adam Granduciel approaches his guitar sounds. The cream ale base represents his clean tonality, the vanilla poached pear brightens up the malt base of the beer akin to an overdrive pedal, when you need that little extra something, while the cinnamon provides that grit that can cut through on a shining lead, with the hints of citrus roaming around your palate like a finely dialed in reverb. If you were to take his White Falcon and the tones he creates and then asked what kind of beer it would be, our answer is our Drugcember to Remember Holiday Ale - Surrender the night & enjoy responsibly!

Additional fundraising will happen via an auction hosted by Julien’s, beginning in January.

Auction items will include a Golden Ticket good for a pair of tickets to any headline show from

The War on Drugs for the next five years, signed memorabilia from Philadelphia professional

sports teams, signed instruments from The War on Drugs, signed items from additional

esteemed musicians, and more.
