REVOLUTIONARY ESPIONAGE!
The Spy House was built circa 1650 along the lonely Port Monmouth shoreline. According to legend during the Revolutionary War, it was a tavern and a popular drinking spot for British troops. Its owner at the time was an innkeeper named Thomas Seabrook who was a patriot in the New Jersey militia. Allegedly, Seabrook would get the Redcoat soldiers liquored up enough to spill military secrets and then passed his overheard intelligence on to the Colonial forces. Over the years, mysterious legends have been attributed to the property including stories of supernatural happenings, spirits and ghostly visions.
