The United States Army Pigeon service was a unit of the US Army based out of Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Their force consisted of 54,000 pigeons whom were considered an undetectable method of communication. These pigeons were trained and deployed as the easiest and most reliable way to coordinate units during combat. Who would have believed that the fate of our nation would rest in some part, upon the flight of a pigeon from New Jersey!
